- People with Physical Disability
- People with Mental Ill-Health
- People with Challenging Behaviours
- People with Autism
Currently we accommodate residents from across four of the five Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland and Parkanaur is located within one hour of most areas of Northern Ireland. An added feature of Parkanaur is that we can also provide vocational training courses for those aged 18+ with intellectual, physical or sensory disabilities and the students who attend contribute to a vibrant atmosphere. Contact with the general public and local community are excellent and residents and students avail of social and leisure activities, including preparation for and participation in Special Olympics. Another feature of Parkanaur is its rural setting and the physical features of the building, but we see our strength as being our staff group and their experience and willingness to work alongside health and social care staff, residents and their families to provide safe and effective care.
We work closely with a range of Health and Social Care staff across a number of Trusts in making sure that the care we provide meets the needs of our residents and that residents can access the full range of health and social care services.
Our staff
The Residential Care element of our service is managed by an experienced management team who ensure that both they and the remaining staff continually update their knowledge and skills and, where appropriate, maintain their registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council. Parkanaur is a place you can trust to work alongside families and health and social care staff to ensure the quality of care we provide is of a high standard.
Our staff have lengthy experience of working in an environment that encourages our residents to develop and achieve their personal goals, through person-centred planning with professional staff and residents. Staff are trained in all mandatory training areas and, in order to meet the particular needs of our resident group, have training in sign language, Makaton and working with adults with autism. Staff are also pro-active in promoting health and well-being, with resident success stories in activities, weight loss and the promotion of independence.

We are supported in providing a stimulating environment by Art Therapy students who use Parkanaur for placements and we provide nursing students from the University of Ulster with placement opportunities. We will soon be offering placements to paramedic students from Queen’s University.
