Assessing and Reviewing
The College Unit places strong emphasis on ensuring that trainee/resident care and training is focused and equates to the needs and desires of the trainee/resident firstly and involves appropriate and relevant associated parties such as Tutors, close relatives, professional care staff both internal to the Residential Unit and external and the trainee’s/resident’s GP if possible. At a monthly meeting not only should the care and training issues be discussed with previous goals targets reviewed but also issued relating to a holistic approach.
On completion of the review, realistic goals should be set with appropriate timetables for action. Reviews should be held at least on a six-weekly basis or when needs arise, with a record of the review included in the trainee’s file.
